Professor Michael Weiss discusses research to develop new type of insulin

A 35-year molecular obsession leads to a breakthrough in ultra-stable insulin

WKSU: When Michael Weiss was a graduate student, he traveled to Africa and saw firsthand how those who live in hot climates struggled to keep their insulin cool. Now, Weiss, the Cowan-Blum Professor of Cancer Research and Professor of Biochemistry & Medicine and chair of the Department of Biochemistry, discussed how his research could lead to the development of a new type of insulin that doesn’t break down in the heat.
