Richard Corradi, professor emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry, wrote an article titled “On Generativity,” which appeared in the December 2020 edition of New Oxford Review.
The article describes a midlife developmental stage in which people feel secure enough in themselves and their accomplishments that they are no longer motivated by personal ambition but by concern for younger generations. A generative person feels altruistic concern to nurture and guide younger people.
While the piece is behind a paywall, it will become available without a subscription on the New Oxford Review website periodically.
