Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics John Kennell discussed the benefits of a doula

Fit Pregnancy: John H. Kennell, professor emeritus of pediatrics, recently discussed the positive impact of presence of a doula for a pregnant woman.  A doula is not trained to deliver babies, but rather lends support to women and their families. “We think that anxiety can slow or stop contractions,” said Kennell, “The doula’s experience and knowledge help set the mother [and her partner] at ease.”
