The New York Times: A number of commercial services are now providing “brain training” services, aiming to improve cognitive skills in students. But Douglas K. Detterman, Louis D. Beaumont University Professor, believes that, while there is a close correlation between IQ and SAT scores, cognitive training only improves test-taking skills, not underlying intelligence. “It’s probably not harmful. But I would tell parents: Save your money,” he said.
