Preparing for tenure? Attend next UCITE session to learn more about the process

The next University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE) session will be geared toward faculty who are tenured, on the tenure track or anticipate a tenure track position someday. The session will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Allen Memorial Medical Library’s Herrick Room (use Adelbert Road doors).

The typical criteria for tenure and promotion are scholarship, teaching and service. All universities subscribe to these criteria, but how these terms are interpreted can vary from institution to institution, school to school, and even department to department. Learning how they are applied and measured at Case Western Reserve University is an important aspect of becoming familiar with the culture of the institution.

William “Bud” Baeslack III, provost and executive vice president; Lynn Singer, deputy provost and vice president for academic affairs; Susan Karaba, executive assistant to the provost; and Lois Langell, special assistant for appointments, promotion, and tenure, will present at the next UCITE session. They will answer questions and share what the university is looking for and how faculty should prepare their case for tenure.

Pizza, soda and water will be provided at this session. RSVP to ucite@case.edu.
