Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and fellows who are considering a career as teaching faculty can sign up for the University 401 Advanced Professional Development for University Teaching Seminar as a first step in their process of pursuing a faculty position. This seminar is offered through the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE).
UNIV 401 is a free, non-credit seminar.
Taught by experienced teachers and seasoned graduate teaching assistants, this seminar offers participants the chance to learn effective teaching strategies useful across major disciplines.
Through small group discussions, journal assignments and micro-teaching sessions, participants will have opportunities to learn and try out successful teaching strategies. In addition, participants will also learn online teaching techniques.
Participants will be expected to read assignments, complete a weekly journal, plan and teach mini-lessons, and participate fully in all discussions and online sessions.
This seminar will take place on Tuesdays beginning June 1 from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Enrollment is limited to 15 students in each section.
Graduate students can enroll via the Student Information System (SIS). Postdoctoral scholars and fellows should email postdoc@case.edu for registration instructions.
This course is also taught in the fall and spring semesters.
