The Social Justice Institute will host its annual PowerUP! Student & Youth Leadership Conference Saturday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Community Studies Center.
The event will feature a keynote address from local activist Basheer Jones and a hip-hop performance by Refresh Collective.
Participants will explore the role of youth in social change and hear from activists who use photography, social media, journalism, spoken word and music as tools.
The conference is free and open to the community; breakfast and lunch will be provided. Registration is requested.
