Mahdi Orooji, postdoctoral researcher in the Center for Computational Imaging and Personalized Diagnostics (CCIPD) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering was awarded a two-year Department of Defense postdoctoral fellowship for his project titled “Fusing MRI and Mechanical Imaging for Improved Prostate Cancer Diagnosis.”

Orooji, under the mentorship of Anant Madabhushi, professor of biomedical engineering and director of CCIPD, and co-mentored by Lee Ponsky, associate professor of urology, will develop computational imaging tools to combine mechanical imaging with MRI to create better diagnostic tools for improved characterization of prostate cancer in vivo.
