Update: Portion of Adelbert Road to be closed over the weekend

Editor’s note: This work has been postponed until a later date, which has yet to be determined.

Beginning Friday, May 24, after 5 p.m. and ending Sunday, May 26, from mid- to late-afternoon, Adelbert Road from just north of University Hospitals’ Adelbert Road Parking Garage to Euclid Avenue will be closed. In an emergency, access from Euclid to the first drive of Lakeside Loop will be permitted, however there will be no access from just north of the Adelbert Road Parking Garage to Euclid Avenue.

The main entrance to the Horvitz Tower at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital Lobby and the pathology building will be closed. Individuals will be able to gain access through the Adelbert Road Parking Garage by going through the tunnel at the basement level.

The partial closure and power washing of the Adelbert Road Parking Garage will be postponed until after this crane event.

The walkway leading to the Biomedical Research Building will remain open to pedestrians, but while the crane is picking, pedestrian traffic on this walkway will be temporarily blocked until it is safe to continue.

The crane, one of the largest mobile cranes in the United States, will be assembled overnight Friday, and will be in motion for eight to 10 hours Saturday. Once complete, it will take approximately 10 to 12 hours to disassemble and demobilize.

Road signage and barricades will be posted. A ground crew and officers will be on hand as a precaution.
