WKYC: The United Nations estimates that at least 10,000 people have been killed in Syria after violence started there 16 months ago. Pete Moore, associate professor of political science, weighed in. “At its base, this is a political conflict over control of the future of a very important country in the Middle East. … But I think foremost in our minds ought to be recognition that this is a human tragedy. Syria is one of the most diverse, religiously, culturally, intellectually rich countries … in the world.”
