Is there a better way to describe what we call a “government shutdown”?
Marketplace: Matthew Lacombe, the Alexander P. Lamis Associate Professor in American Politics in the Department of Political Science, commented on how things in our nation’s capital were not looking promising as the government shutdown clock counted down. “The government in many ways does not actually shut down,” he said, noting that the military and programs like Medicare and Social Security continue operating.
