Female factor: Candidates campaign on women’s issues in fight for votes
The Ledger: Women outnumber men among registered voters by 8.6 million, or 6.2 percent, and research shows women are more likely to actually vote. “This is a huge impact that women have just in terms of our numbers,” said Karen Beckwith, the Flora Stone Mather Professor of Political Science. “When you add to that the slightly higher party identification for Democrats, this is a structural barrier that Republican Party candidates have to surpass.”
