Pete W. Moore, the Marcus A. Hanna Associate Professor of Political Science at Case Western Reserve University, and Hugh Roberts, the Edward Keller Professor of North African and Middle Eastern History at Tufts University, will lead a conversation on the origins of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and its place in political Islam. How did ISIS come into power? What are they trying to accomplish? How should the United States, and the world, respond?

The discussion, set to take place Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Happy Dog, will be moderated by WCPN host and producer Tony Ganzer.

This free, public event is presented in partnership with the Cleveland Council on World Affairs.
