Case Western Reserve University, Vanguard and TIAA-CREF are teaming up to help faculty and staff make the most of their retirement plans. All CWRU employees are invited to the following instructional workshops:
Getting on track for retirement
Attend an information session on Wednesday, July 15, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, Room 108, or Thursday, July 16, from 1 to 2 p.m. in Crawford Hall, Room 209.
During this meeting, enrolled participants will learn how to use an online calculator to determine whether they will have sufficient income in retirement, given their current retirement plan choices (such as contribution rate, investment allocation and intended retirement age).
Attendees also will learn Social Security claiming strategies—specifically, how taking retirement benefits before full retirement age reduces lifetime Social Security benefits, and how delaying benefits up until age 70 increases lifetime benefit payments.
Protect your future
Attend an information session on Wednesday, July 15, from noon to 1 p.m. in Crawford Hall, Room 209, or Thursday, July 16, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Biomedical Research Building, Room 105.
Participants who are no more than a few years away from retirement may ask, “What can I do with my retirement savings when I leave the plan?” Many participants are diligently saving and investing for their retirement and when they reach retirement, they are not sure how to turn their retirement saving into retirement income.
In this meeting, participants will learn different ways they can turn their savings into income and the pros and cons of each method. Leaders of the meeting also will cover some of the common missteps that participants make that can impact their retirement security.
Healthy Numbers: Integrating health care into your retirement plan
Attend an information session on Friday, July 17, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Crawford Hall, Room 720.
This session will provide information on:
- Why it’s important to plan
- How to fold health care into your overall retirement plan
- The real benefits and costs of Medicare
