Plan ahead for your information needs from CWRU campus libraries

The OhioLINK academic library consortium, which includes CWRU, will transition to a new library services platform (LSP) in June. The LSP is the suite of software libraries use to acquire, manage and lend resources; the software also allows users to search for, find and access those resources. Following the transition, users can expect enhancements to the libraries’ catalog searching, access and delivery of electronic resources, and streamlined borrowing from other OhioLINK Member Libraries.

As a result of this upgrade, some library services will be temporarily paused this spring. Please note the following estimated timeline and plan accordingly for your purchasing and borrowing needs from the CWRU campus libraries in preparation for the summer semester.

Resource requests and availability

The law library will continue to accept all materials requests during this period, including faculty requests. Kelvin Smith Library, Cleveland Health Sciences Library and Harris Library have suspended processing print purchase requests and will resume processing them July 1.

Members of the campus community can continue to request electronic resource purchases from Kelvin Smith Library and Cleveland Health Sciences Library (eBooks, eJournals, streaming video, electronic databases) through May 23. Users may experience delays in electronic resource processing as the library’s staff works to enhance their services.

The campus community can continue to request print resources through OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan, and check out loanable items in the CWRU library catalogs. Electronic resource access will be minimally interrupted throughout the entire transition.

OhioLINK and SearchOhio borrowing pause

Requesting, borrowing, and lending through OhioLINK and SearchOhio will be suspended May 23, as all member libraries move to the new platform. Members of the CWRU community are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and request materials they may need for the summer and fall semesters in advance of this deadline. OhioLINK services are expected to resume, with streamlined borrowing, in July. All due dates for borrowed materials will be observed, even if they fall during this freeze period.
