Live Science: Currently, the power of computers doubles every two years—a rate known as “Moore’s law,” for Gordon Moore, an Intel engineer who first noticed the trend in 1965. If Moore’s law does hold and this rate of progress continues, eventually the progress will be forced to stop, according to physics and astronomy professor Glenn Starkman.
