Philosophy’s Laura Hengehold wins French Voices award

Laura Hengehold, professor of philosophy, has won a 2018 French Voices award from the FACE Foundation and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy for the recent translation of texts by French-Algerian philosopher Seloua Luste Boulbina, titled Kafka’s Monkey and Other Phantoms of Africa.

The French Voices program annually recognizes the art of translation and celebrates publishers committed to supporting French-to-English translations of both fiction and non-fiction with approximately fifteen awards per year. Kafka’s Monkey was released by Indiana University Press late this summer.
