On the blog of the American Philosophical Association, Jeremy Bendik-Keymer, the Beamer-Schneider Professor in Ethics and associate professor of philosophy, responded to a question about how he pursues public philosophy.
Bendik-Keymer’s short essay is on the relationship between public philosophy and being able to relate to people as a person, not simply as a scholar. The essay introduces the category of relational reasoning, different than theoretical or practical reasoning, to make a point about what philosophy is and can be.
