People working with lead must get blood checked, says medicine’s Ashwini Sehgal

Even low blood lead levels linked to gout risk

Reuters: Even relatively low levels of lead in the blood may be linked to increased risk of gout, according to a recently published study. Ashwini R. Sehgal, the Duncan Neuhauser Professor of Community Health Improvement, wrote an editorial that accompanied the study. He said it’s most important for people who have worked with lead to get their blood checked. “I don’t think that everyone should have their lead levels checked,” he said.
