Reuters: Sandra Hassink, adjunct professor of pediatrics, explained the benefits of a family-based intervention approach to childhood obesity. “The family is a system with a series of mutual interactions that depends on a common understanding of the problem, the goals and the process of treatment to be most effective,” she said. “Research including fathers can only add to the effectiveness of treatment and prevention.”
