Study offers new hope for adults with peanut allergies
Everyday Health: Joao Pedro Matias Lopes, assistant professor of pediatrics, weighed in on a research team’s findings that indicated adults with a peanut allergy can develop a tolerance and reduce their risk of life-threatening reactions by gradually exposing them to small doses over time, a technique already used to desensitize children. “No one can guarantee this approach is long-lasting,” said Lopes.
