Neil Greenspan, professor of pathology, and Arturo Casadevall of Johns Hopkins University co-authored a piece for The Scientist titled “We need more than new antibiotics to fight resistance.”
Their commentary provided a rationale for biomedical scientists to explore and develop a variety of therapeutic approaches for treating infections caused by bacterial pathogens that exhibit resistance to multiple antibiotics. Additionally, they briefly characterized examples of treatment strategies that are being studied and that augment antibiotics or are independent of them.
