Pathology’s Agnes Loeffler discusses low career interest in forensic pathology

Cuyahoga County—like the whole country—needs more forensic pathologists

cleveland.com (subscription required): Agnes Loeffler, professor of pathology at the School of Medicine, said that medical students only learn about pathology in “bits and pieces” throughout their training, so it’s no surprise that few express interest in careers in public service as forensic pathologists. “It takes a special person, who is interested both in pathology and in public service,” Loffler said. “It requires someone who is comfortable working very closely with police, crime investigation and a lot of state agencies.”
