Participate in a walking challenge in October

Beginning Oct. 1, faculty, staff and students at CWRU can improve their fitness and enjoy the fall colors in the new #WalkCWRU program. Each day, participants will log steps or exercise minutes in a simple tracker with the goal of reaching 250,000 steps or 1,000 minutes of activity during the month.

“This is going to be a challenge for many of us,” said Wellness Manager Mary Ann Dobbins. “It is an average of about 8,000 steps per day in October!”

Even those who start with more modest step totals can work their way up to the suggested 10,000 daily steps by the end of the month.

To encourage more activity and camaraderie, the student and faculty and staff Wellness Programs will offer a variety of weekly walks. These activities will include lunchtime walks with Vice President of Student Affairs Lou Stark, Vice President of Human Resources Carolyn Gregory and One to One Fitness’ Walking Club. There also will be a few evening walks and a hike at Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms.

Weekly incentives and completion prizes will be available for campus participants throughout the month of October.
