Parents of transgender, gender-variant children must be their active advocates, says Psychology’s Amy Przeworski

New study focuses on the oft-ignored “T” in LGBT

The Observer: Amy Przeworski, assistant professor of psychology, and graduate student Jennifer Birnkrant are conducting a study on transgender and gender-variant children, ages 10 to 17, and their parents about their experiences. “These parents have to be such an advocate for their kids and create a path where there is none in schools,” Przeworski said. “They have to push to make sure their kids’ rights aren’t being violated.”
