The Institute for the Science of Origins (ISO) and Siegal Lifelong Learning will present the first lecture of the fall Origins Science Scholars Series: “Sauropod Dinosaurs: Long Necks and Peculiar Claws” on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The event will be hosted in the Tinkham Veale University Center ballroom from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and will feature dinner with the speaker and Q&A during dessert.
In a major group of dinosaurs, the sauropods, questions swirl around the function and evolution of their claws and feet. Lee Hall, preparator for the Department of Vertebrate Paleontology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, will discuss sauropod evolution and diversity, and address hypotheses of their paleobiology by comparison to modern animals.
Origins Science Scholars is ISO’s signature public outreach series. It meets seven weeks in a row on Tuesday evenings.
