Voting members of the university faculty should watch for an email from their school or college’s Faculty Senate Nominating Committee representative with a link to the Opportunities for Faculty Governance survey, which will reopen soon.
Being part of a Faculty Senate standing committee gives you the opportunity to help shape educational, research and scholarly activities at Case Western Reserve University.
Some of the Faculty Senate’s recent activities have included:
- Improving communications between the Faculty Senate and Board of Trustees, including regular meetings among leadership and research committees;
- Holding listening sessions with the college and each of the schools to identify concerns, themes and ideas for how the Faculty Senate can take a more proactive approach in shared governance; and
- Introducing language in the Faculty Handbook to require regular administration of the Faculty Climate Survey and Faculty Salary Equity Survey.
Individuals who would like to get involved do not need to be a faculty senator to serve on any of the committees.
