Ronald L. Hickman, associate professor of nursing, received the 2016 Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award from the Midwest Nursing Research Society.
The award honors the contributions of a new investigator whose nursing research has the potential to enhance the science and practice of nursing.
Hickman’s key research areas include how to help families prepare for end-of-life decisions. In November, he received a National Institutes of Health grant with Marc Buchner, associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science, to create an avatar-based technology to assist families with those decisions.
