COVID-19 pandemic showcasing evolved role of nurses, local expert says
WOSU: May Wykle, professor emerita at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and the nursing school’s former dean, discussed the evolving roles of nurses. “It’s ironic that in the ‘Year of the Nurse,’ the nurses have been the standout caregivers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said. “They’re making sure that someone’s at the bedside with the patient, and that’s where the nurse-patient relationship is so important because they can’t see their families, but the nurse helps them communicate with their families.”
