Mary Franklin, assistant professor at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and director and lead faculty for the Midwifery and Women’s Health programs, was recently inducted as a fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ANCM).

Franklin said this past year has seen much progress in her profession.

Rather than discouraging people from entering the profession, the pandemic has highlighted the crucial role that nurses play in the health care team, and has actually encouraged people to consider nursing as a career,” she said. “It is exciting to see nurses using technology in new ways to provide care, to see the important work of nurses highlighted in the media, and to see an influx of enthusiastic applicants to nursing programs.”

Though her research on cervical cancer screening is currently on hold, Franklin continues her mentorship of DNP students in scholarly projects related to informatics and perinatal topics.
