CWRU gets $1.6 million grant for nursing program to increase patient participation in clinical cancer trials
The Plain Dealer: Barbara Daly, the Gertrude Perkins Oliva Professor in Oncology Nursing, discussed the grant she and fellow researcher Neal Meropol, associate director for clinical research at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, received from the National Cancer Institute to develop programs to educate cancer patients about clinical trials. “Some people, I think, worry that if they suggest to a patient that a clinical trial is available, there is a perception that the nurse doesn’t think [the patient’s] current treatment is going to work,” she said.
