Nursing students to give away 1,000 cupcakes Oct. 12 in honor of National Midwifery Week

Beginning at noon on Friday, Oct. 12, Case Western Reserve University’s Nurse Midwifery Education Program will celebrate National Midwifery Week by giving away 1,000 pink and blue frosted baby cupcakes—one for every 10 births each year in Ohio.

Statewide, 10,000 babies are born each year with the assistance of certified nurse midwives. National Midwifery Week, created by American College of Nurse-Midwives to celebrate and recognize its members, is celebrated Oct. 7-13.

The cupcakes will be given away by Frances Payne Bolton nursing students in the Nurse Midwifery Education Program at the corner of Adelbert Road and Euclid Avenue. The first 1,000 people to stop by will receive a cupcake made by Main Street Cupcakes in Rocky River.
