Nursing faculty, students earn awards from Midwest Nursing Research Society

Researchers from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing had a strong showing at the 2021 annual conference for the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS).

The school had eight award winners and more than 15 faculty and student presentations at the virtual event in late March.

One of the standout Research Interest Group (RIG) awards earned by faculty members included the Outstanding Partnership Award for Mary Dolansky, the Sarah C. Hirsh Professor, for her work with The John A. Hartford Foundation and CVS MinuteClinic

Dolansky’s team has been working with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to integrate the age-friendly “4Ms” framework (What Matters, Medication, Mentation and Mobility) into the retail clinical setting at 1,100 CVS MinuteClinics across the United States.

The school’s other award winners were:

  • Julia O’Brien, PhD candidate: Dissertation Award from the MNRS Health of Diverse Populations RIG
  • Siobhan Aaron, postdoctoral fellow: Dissertation Award from the MNRS Palliative and End-of-Life Care RIG
  • Grant Pignatiello, instructor and KL2 clinical research scholar: Early Career Investigator Award from the MNRS Family Health RIG
  • Stephanie Griggs, instructor: New Investigator Award from the MNRS Self Care RIG
  • Andrew Reimer, assistant professor: MNRS Mid-Career Investigator Award from the Health Systems, Policy and Informatics RIG
  • Carolyn Harmon Still, assistant professor: elected to the MNRS Board of Directors as a member-at-large. Still also picked up a Mid-Career Investigator Award from the Self Care RIG.
  • Faye Gary, the Medical Mutual of Ohio Kent W. Clapp Chair and Professor in Nursing: MNRS Senior Investigator Award from the Health of Diverse Populations RIG.
