The OhioLINK academic library consortium, which includes Case Western Reserve University, will transition to a new library services platform (LSP) in June 2025. The LSP is the suite of software that libraries use to acquire, manage and lend resources—as well as allowing users to search for, find and access those resources. Following the transition, users can expect enhancements to the libraries’ catalog searching, access and delivery of electronic resources, and streamlined borrowing from other OhioLINK Member Libraries.
As a result of this upgrade, some library services will be temporarily paused during spring 2025. Please note the following estimated timeline and plan accordingly for your purchasing and borrowing needs from the CWRU Libraries in preparation for the spring and summer semesters.
For any questions or concerns, reach out to your research and engagement librarian or email lsp-support@case.edu. For more information from OhioLINK visit ohiolink.edu/press.
While the dates listed above are confirmed, they are estimations and may require adjustments. Kelvin Smith Library will continue to communicate updates in The Daily and on the library website.
KSL print purchase request deadline
Friday, Feb. 28
Submit purchase requests for new print materials to your research and engagement librarian by Feb. 28. From March 1 until June 30, no new requests for print materials will be processed, including ordering new books or other physical resources. We encourage you to consider any teaching materials you may need for the spring and summer as early as possible. If you are in need of materials after Feb. 28, please reach out to your research and engagement librarian to find solutions to your needs.
The campus community can continue to access resources through OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan, as well as all CWRU catalog items.
OhioLINK and SearchOhio borrowing pause
Beginning Friday, May 23
Requesting, borrowing, and lending through OhioLINK and SearchOhio will be suspended on May 23. It is strongly encouraged to plan ahead and consider any materials you may need for the summer and fall semesters in advance of this deadline. OhioLINK services are expected to resume, with streamlined borrowing, in July 2025.
eResource request deadline
Friday, May 23
Members of the campus community can continue to request eResources (eBooks, eJournals, streaming video, electronic databases) purchases through late May. During the spring, you may experience delays in eResource processing as we work to enhance our services. The library staff expects to resume purchasing eResources on April 28.
