Nominate women on campus and in the community for Flora Awards

Nominate a student, staff or faculty member, alumna, or community member for a Flora Award.

The Flora Awards (formerly Women of Achievement) represent Flora Stone Mather’s spirit of kindness, generosity and advancement of women’s education. In preserving her legacy we are rewarding women who, like Flora, believe in, and act for, the betterment of society. There are six categories for nomination, including faculty, staff, graduate student, undergraduate student, alumna, and community leader. An award for Notable Woman of the Year also will be awarded each year at the ceremony.

The eligibility criteria for the award are:

  1. Must meet one of the categories for nomination (Faculty, Staff, Graduate Student, Undergraduate Student, Alumna, and Community Leader)
  2. Must honor the legacy of Flora Stone Mather by embodying at least one way of demonstrated impact in empowering other women at the university, campus and/or Cleveland community level:
    1. Advocating for the advancement of women’s education and leadership;
    2. Supporting women through their gift of time through volunteerism;
    3. Supporting women through their philanthropy (either personal or institutional); and
    4. Commitment to honoring the diversity of women (such as race, sexual orientation, age, ability, socio economic status, national origin, religion etc.).

Submit the nomination form. Nominations must be submitted by Sept. 13, and the award ceremony will be held Thursday, Oct. 24.
