As the fall semester winds down, now is an ideal time to consider how to design a quality course for the upcoming semesters. Well-designed courses—those that maximize learning by students—do not happen by accident. They are the result of careful planning to make sure all the key elements—content, teaching methods and assessments—are put together in a way that reinforce each other.
But often, much of the attention in preparing courses is focused on the scope and sequence of the content, with the other two elements being afterthoughts. At the next UCITE session, attendees will see how to design courses that better integrate all these elements into one coherent whole.
The session will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room, on the ground floor of the Allen Memorial Medical Library.
Pizza and sodas will be provided at the session. RSVP to ucite@case.edu.
