John A. Begala, executive director of the Center for Community Solutions, will lead this week’s Public Affairs Discussion, titled “Is Cleveland Dying?”
The event will take place Friday, April 18, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Kelvin Smith Library’s Dampeer Room.
As Cleveland’s economy and population shrinks, the tax base shrinks, and capacity to deliver public services declines as well. Cleveland elites loudly proclaimed a “quiet crisis” more than a decade ago. Is there any sign of successful response?
At the Center for Community Solutions, Begala leads the Center’s efforts to research trends and advocate for improvements. The discussion will focus on perils and prospects.
Since 1989, faculty, emeriti, students and staff have gathered on Fridays for a brown-bag lunch and to discuss topics in public affairs.
