National Love Data Week events offered at the Kelvin Smith Library’s Freedman Center

Faculty, staff and students are invited to join in a celebration of the importance of discovering, using and managing data during Love Data Week. The Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship Team will host a series of free events in the Freedman Center, located on the first floor of Kelvin Smith Library.

Highlights include:

  • Census Talk: Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 1-2:30 p.m. Learn how to load, analyze and produce maps of census data in open-source software (QGIS). Laptops with preloaded software and data will be provided. This session is appropriate for those who have never used GIS mapping software or census data.
  • VR/3D Hangout :Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 1-3:30 p.m. Come experience virtual reality with the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship in our dedicated VR space. Educational and recreational VR experiences are available.
  • Digital Scholarship Mixer: Thursday, Feb. 13, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Meet the Freedman Center Digital Scholarship Team and a few of this year’s Freedman Fellows working on research in collaboration with them. Learn about tools and resources that all CWRU community members can access and use to support their research and creativity. The event will continue at the Jolly Scholar for snacks and conversation.
