As part of National Library Week, Kelvin Smith Library invites the community to participate in the week’s planned activities: a haiku contest and an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) Open House.
ORCID Open House
Researchers, faculty and students looking to publish are welcome to attend the ORCID Open House Thursday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kelvin Smith Library’s Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship. Attendees will learn more about ORCID, a digital identifier that streamlines the publishing process.
Haiku contest
Kelvin Smith Library will host a haiku contest with a theme of: “Where did the library lead you?”
A haiku consists of three unrhymed lines of five, seven and five syllables.
Submissions for the contest will be accepted through an online form. The deadline for all entries is Thursday, April 12, at 4 p.m.
A committee of Kelvin Smith Library poetry enthusiasts will determine the top three submissions. Faculty, staff and students can participate. The winners will be notified Friday, April 13. First place will win gift cards to Barnes & Noble and Target totaling $100. Second and third place will be awarded Case Western Reserve University-branded apparel.
