National Coming Out Week

The LGBT Center will celebrate National Coming Out Week Oct. 10-14 with events throughout the week.

In addition to following events, the LGBT Center staff will be available for members of the campus community to stop by to  hang out and talk during office hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Monday, Oct. 10

  • “Come Out” in the Netherlands: An LGBT Amsterdam study abroad information session will be held at 10 a.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 179.
  • “Exact Change”: Watch a one-woman performance about finding your voice by Christine Howey at 5:30 p.m. in the Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Research Building auditorium. RSVP at bwj@case.edu.

Tuesday, Oct. 11

  • Self-care meditation: Relax and refresh at 9 a.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center’s second floor conference room.
  • National Coming Out Day Party: Make fuse bead art, get free food, color and relax from 3 to 6 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 179.

Wednesday, Oct. 12

  • Fun Home: Head to Playhouse Square with the LGBT Center for a 7:30 p.m. showing of the musical adaptation of Alison Bechdel’s award-winning graphic memoir. Get discounted tickets at groupmatics.events/#/event/cwru.

Thursday, Oct. 13

  • “Coming Out Event – Panel on Queer Women”: Join the LGBT Center and the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women for a panel discussion with LGBTQ women at noon in Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 248.

Friday, Oct. 14

  • Open forum: Learn about LGBTQ major/minor during Community Hour at 12:30 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 179.
  • LGBT Pride Dessert Reception: The CWRU Pride Alumni Network will give its inaugural alumni award to Douglas W. Nock for his contributions to the only LGBT-centered scholarship on campus.  The award will be presented Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center’s Linsalata lobby. Students, faculty, staff and alumni are all welcome to attend. RSVP online.
