“My So-Called Enemy” to be screened Jan. 19 as part of MLK celebration; filmmaker to speak

The documentary My So-Called Enemy will be screened Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. in Strosacker Auditorium. The documentary is the story of six Israeli and Palestinian teenage girls who traveled to the U.S. in 2002 to participate in a women’s leadership program, Building Bridges for Peace. The film discusses how the transformative experience of knowing their “enemies” as human beings meets with the realities of their lives at home in the Middle East over the next seven years.

Following the screening, the filmmaker Lisa Gossels will discuss the following quote from Martin Luther King: “Discover the element of good in your enemy. And as you seek to hate him, find the center of goodness and place your attention there, and you will take a new attitude.”
