Music’s Francesca Brittan serves as scholar-in-residence at The Bard Music Festival

Francesca Brittan, associate professor of music at the College of Arts and Sciences, was selected as a scholar-in-residence at The Bard Music Festival this month alongside colleague Sarah Hibberd of Bristol University.

Brittan and Hibberd are co-editors of the recently published book Berlioz and His World (University of Chicago Press).

The festival, held at Bard College in New York, began Aug. 9 and continues through Aug. 18. At the festival, Brittan and Hibberd led a book launch and gave a series of public talks.

The Bard Festival is a classical music series—held annually since 1990—that attracts large audiences from New York City, as well as major news outlets such as The New York Times.

Each year, the festival features a single composer; this year’s featured composer is Hector Berlioz, the subject of Brittan and Hibberd’s book.
