The Department of Anthropology’s Spotlight Lecture Series, Applying Anthropology to Real World Problems, will continue April 20 with Micah Parzen, CEO of the San Diego Museum of Man. Parzen will present “Anthropology, Museums and Public Engagement” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Mather Memorial 201.
Parzen, who earned his doctoral degree in anthropology from Case Western Reserve University, joined the museum as CEO in August 2010. Prior, he was a partner in the labor and employment practice group at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, where he served as the firm’s pro bono program coordinator. He has conducted extensive anthropological fieldwork on the Navajo nation and is a longtime human rights advocate in the field of mental health law.
Jonathon Plimpton (WRC ’70), managing director of International Business Management Inc., helped fund the event.
