In her capacity as a film scholar specialized in contemporary Argentine cinema, Gabriela Copertari was recently interviewed for an Argentine documentary titled 76 89 23, which seeks to both pay homage to and reopen the debate about the 2000 controversial-turned-cult-favorite film 76 89 03.
Copertari, associate professor of Spanish, devoted a chapter of her book Desintegración y justicia en el cine argentino contemporáneo [Disintegration and Justice in Contemporary Argentine Cinema] to the debate and the political meanings of the film. As a result, Copertari was invited to be interviewed for the documentary about the film.
The documentary, directed by Federico Benoit, premiered April 3 at the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema, to great acclaim of both public and critics.
