Model United Nations team wins five honorable mention awards at Harvard competition

United Nations teamThe Case Western Reserve University Model United Nations team recently competed at the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) conference, winning honorable mention awards in five out of eight committee assignments.

HNMUN is considered among the most difficult Model UN conference in the world, and members of CWRU’s team beat students from more than 300 other schools and 70 countries in effectively addressing global issues.

The following CWRU representatives won awards:

  • Siddharth Hariharan and Matt Keri as Belarus in the Legal Committee
  • Lilly Tesfai as Belarus in the World Conference on Women
  • Ayush Gupta as Russia in the United Nations Environment Programme
  • Pri Chari as director of Military Intelligence
  • Abdullah Mohammed in the Supervisory Committee of The Nigerian Constituent Assembly, 1977
  • Jon Goldson as a cardinal bishop in the Special Council of The Regent Of France, 1356

The CWRU Model UN team was ranked as the 30th best team in North America last fall, and with its performance at Harvard, the team has a chance to be ranked in the top 25 teams after their next conference in April.
