Vice President of Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer Sue B. Workman announced the appointment of Michael Kubit as Case Western Reserve’s new deputy chief information officer, effective this month. Kubit, who has served as the division’s interim chief operations officer since August 2013, brings more than 30 years of experience at the university to the newly created role.
“Mike is an IT professional that is known throughout the national higher education community for his active participation in professional affiliations,” Workman said. “He has distinguished himself as an IT thought leader, and has extensive operations, managerial and leadership experience.”
As deputy chief information officer, Kubit will plan, organize and sustain operational excellence across information technology initiatives at Case Western Reserve. From infrastructure to communication, he will hold broad strategic and operational responsibilities for ITS.
Before his appointment to interim chief operations officer in 2013, Kubit held the role of senior director for the division’s Run unit. Throughout his career at Case Western Reserve, he also served as director of IT customer service and support, and assistant director of instructional technology and academic computing.
Kubit is a Frye Fellow an active member of EDUCAUSE, Society of Information Managers, Leading Change Institute Alumni, Help Desk Institute, National Association of Broadcasters, International Communications Industries Association and the New Media Consortium. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Weatherhead School of Management and numerous certifications.
