Coach Matt Englander thriving after brain cancer and Case Western Reserve keeps winning
The Plain Dealer: Thirty months ago, men’s baseball head coach Matt Englander had brain surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. This year, he has led his team to its highest national ranking—21st in NCAA Division III. “When he tells us to sprint that extra 10 feet or run out that 90-foot base to first, we do it as hard as we can, simply because he’s a great role model and tough as nails,” said junior pitcher Rob Winemiller.
