The LGBT Center, Flora Stone Mather Center for Women and the Film and Women and Gender Studies programs will host a discussion with director Jamie Babbit Saturday, April 6, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Senior Classroom A.
Originally from Cleveland, Babbit has directed feature films including But I’m a Cheerleader and episodes of the television shows Russian Doll, GIRLS and The L Word.
The 43rd Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) will present Babbit with the inaugural DReam Catcher award to honor the legacy of David Ream, who was a beloved and long-serving CIFF trustee, CWRU alum and LGBTQ community member and advocate. DReam Catcher will celebrate LGBTQ artists through the recognition of an LGBTQ filmmaker at each festival.
This event will be free and open to the CWRU community.
