Med’s Susan Hatters-Friedman outlines some limitations of postpartum support

ParentsSusan Hatters-Friedman, the Phillip Resnick Professor of Forensic Psychiatry and an adjunct professor at the School of Law, outlined some of the limitations to postpartum support after failing the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale screening. “Some parents are so afraid that if they fill out the test truthfully, their children would be taken away,” she said. “As such, the screening will only pick up cases of postpartum depression if the person completing the test about themselves reports truthfully.”
