Med’s Pamela Davis explains the risk on the heart when combining Covid-19 and drug use

Drug use and COVID-19 is an especially dangerous combination for the heart, study finds

cleveland.com (subscription required): A new study by researchers at the School of Medicine suggests the combination of COVID-19 and drug use (cocaine and opiates) poses an even more serious risk on the heart than each already does separately. “It is essential to monitor patients with these underlying disorders carefully for endocarditis (heart inflammation) if they become infected with SARS-CoV2,” said Pamela Davis, the Arline and Curtis Garvin Research Professor and a study author.
